Punjab increases DA by 10%

CHANDIGARH: Punjab government on Friday announced 10% hike in dearness allowance (DA) payable to the state government employees/pensioners due from January 1, 2014. The allowance will be paid from December 1, 2014 increasing it from existing 90% to 100% of the basic pay.

An official spokesperson said that decision about the pending payment of enhanced DA from 1.1.2014 to 30.11.2014 would be taken later on. He further said that the pending arrears of 10% DA from July 1, 2013 to January 31, 2014 will be deposited in the GPF accounts of Group D employees in the month of July 2014 and for remaining employees/pensioners the amount would be released after 15.8.14. "Pending payment of enhanced DA would be deposited in GPF account of concerned employee and pensioners will get it in cash" he said.

Employees who were appointed under New Restructured Defined Contributory Pension Scheme from January 1, 2004 or after that have been advised to purchase National Saving Certificates/Kisan Vikas Pattar from post offices situated in the state of Punjab against the arrears of DA.
