CHANDIGARH. October 22, 2011. The
Punjab government on Saturday announced to release another instalment of
dearness allowance (DA) of 7%, enhancing it from 51 to 58% with effect from
July 1 on the pattern of the central government, a government spokesperson
said.
This move would put an additional
burden of Rs 445 crore on the exchequer this fiscal, the spokesperson said,
adding that DA arrears till October 31 would be deposited in the GPF (general
provident fund) of employees, while after November 1 it would be paid in cash.
